Get the brief details about ovarian cancer

Women have many different organs that together are called the ‘reproductive system’. Of these many organs, one of the most important in reproduction is the ovary, the organ that produces the egg which later can get fertilized. Because of its pivotal role in the body, the ovary is also a site of many important hormone productions, and can be considered important to many everyday processes. As such an active part of the female body, there are cells in the ovary that are constantly growing and maturing. When these cells start producing more cells than are dying, a mass forms in the ovary, which is what can later turn into ovarian cancer.

Ovarian cyst removal is usually recommended when cysts are large, solid, shaped in irregular forms, suspected of being cancerous, twisted, ruptured, or causing severe pain. Older patients with ovarian cysts are more likely to need to have them removed since the likelihood of having a cancerous cyst increases with age.
