Airsoft is a game which is only come to the US in recent years, but there are already a large number of enthusiastic, regular players. Even if you’ve never heard of Airsoft before, it’s not hard to learn. If you’ve played paintball, you’ll take to the game in no time flat. Players compete as teams or individually, with every player for his or herself.

Airsoft should only be played on designated fields and areas that are safe. Fields that are specifically made for airsoft to be played on will be fitted with trenches, walls, bunkers, towers, and other buildings that make the game fun and seem like a real battle field. You have to be wearing the appropriate gear in order to play this game; otherwise you will not be allowed onto the playing field. Your face is the area of your body that has to be covered up the best, with a face mask as well as special goggles. You cannot wear any other glasses or eye protection because it may not be strong enough to handle the pellet should it strike in the eye area.

Airsoft started in Japan during the 1970’s when it was completely illegal to own a firearm of any kind. People were very interested in firearms even though there were rules against them, so it was due to the interest of the people that certain manufacturers began making spring powered guns that were very realistic. This became dangerous though, because if you walked around with your fake gun people thought it was real if they gave it a quick glance. This is why you always had to walk with your gun in a case so that no part of it could be seen at all. It had to be fully covered if you wanted to avoid trouble with the law.

Fans of this fairly new sport have made up their own versions of the game, and people play it differently in different parts of the world. There are three main Airsoft games that originated with the game; MilSim, Capture the Flag, and Honor System.

An Airsoft gun is a must of course - if you’d like to play often, you’ll want a good quality gun and you’ll need to take care of this equipment, cleaning it after every game.

Today, there are thousands of regular Airsoft players all over the world, so you’ll always be able to find other players for a game. You can even join an Airsoft team and enjoy competitive play against other teams. If you’re seriously interested in Airsoft, you’ll need some Airsoft equipment beyond an Airsoft gun, face mask and safety goggles. You’ll want battery chargers, a helmet, laser sights and ammo pouches, along with other useful accessories which will help you get more enjoyment out of the game.
